Go-to Cold Weather Looks

By Sara Antonuccio
It’s easy to dress for summer. Is it going to be hot, or really hot today? Beachwear or pool party-wear? Fall and winter, however, aren’t quite as simple. Some days the sun might be shining and warming up the frost in the air, and the next day a blizzard hits and you can’t see 10 feet in front of you. To make getting dressed in the colder months easier, it helps to have a few go-to outfits that can handle a variety of conditions. Here are some ideas:

Turtleneck Sweater with Flared Jeans
Bundling up from head to toe is one way to keep out the chill. But, that doesn’t mean you have to look like a character from a beloved Christmas movie to stay warm! Turtleneck sweaters were made to help you get through the colder weather in style. They’re ultra-cozy, chic, and when you pair them with flared jeans they create a sophisticated look that fits in both at the office and after work.

Sherpa-Lined Jacket with Skinny Jeans
There’s something cozy and comforting about sherpa-lined jackets, whether they’re leather, denim, or another material. They’re deceptively warm and super stylish, especially when you pair them with skinny jeans. The slight poof the extra layer on top contrasts with the tapered leg on the bottom to create a youthful (and slightly retro) look.

Sweater + Jean Jacket + Blanket Scarf Combo
To stay warm, double up on your layers, but make sure those layers play off one another. Sweaters and jean jackets work well together because the soft layer underneath keeps you cozy, while the stiffer layer on the outside blocks out the freezing air. To bring those two pieces together, add a blanket scarf.

Sweater Dress with Fleece-Lined Tights and a Trench Coat
Can you really stay warm in a sweater dress? You can if you add the right ingredients. One warm sweater dress, combined with fleece-lined tights, mixed with tall boots, and topped off with a trench coat is a winning combination. For maximum style, try a pair of thigh high boots and ensure your sweater dress ends at least an inch or two above them.

All of these styles can mix and match with each other, so play around with the pieces to find a look that feels right to you. With a few of the right staples in your closet, you’ll be ready for whatever mother nature decides to throw your way this season.
